Edith Södergran’s poetry moves and inspires with powerful images and timeless themes. This evening, the Swedish poet will be celebrated through music and words as the Anna Kruse Trio and actress Stina Ekblad interpret her works together.
Edith Södergran (1892-1923) is considered one of the most important voices of Swedish modernism. Her poems revolve around the soul’s longing, the strength of love, and the desire for freedom. Despite her short life, she broke literary and cultural frameworks and created texts that still feel deeply relevant.
Anna Kruse has made Edith Södergran a central part of her musical universe and has released seven albums with her poems as the textual foundation. Her compositions embrace jazz, folk music and classical tones creating a universe where Södergran’s poetry gains new sonic foundations.
Stina Ekblad is one of the most recognized actors in the Nordic region. With a career spanning both theater and film, she has distinguished herself as an artist with a special ability to bring depth and presence to complex texts. Also, Edith Södergran’s poems, which she has performed for many years.
Anna Kruse and Stina Ekblad are accompanied by Jeppe Holst on guitar and steel guitar and Nicholas Kingo on piano.

About Anna KruseSwedish singer and composer Anna Kruse has lived in Copenhagen for many years and has been part of the Danish music scene since she was an exchange student at the Danish Academy of Music in 1998.
Her album “Barndomsträd” was nominated for a DMA JAZZ as best vocal album in 2021.
