This is going to be huge and wild.
Api Pipo jazz orchestra under the direction of Alain Apaloo from Togo, with internationally recognized heavyweights in all places in the orchestra, explosive, strongly melodic, and superharmonic Afro-jazz plays with so much groove that half of it could almost be enough.
Here you can experience Alain’s huge orchestra with the American international star Kurt Rosenwinkel, whom many call the best guitarist of his generation.
Reviewer Ivan Rod from Gaffa calls their shared music a blissful mix of modern West African pop and sublime contemporary world jazz. Together, they have released two API Pipo albums, which are in a class of their own.
Apaloo’s world music and jazz project Api Pipo won the Danish World Music Award for their album Floodgate (2009), and their album Nunya (2015) – released in collaboration with Kurt Rosenwinkel – received widespread critical acclaim. Maybe that’s why the guitar legend Eric Clapton invited them both to perform at his Crossroads Guitar Festival in Los Angeles in 2023. Here Apaloo gathered some of his most renowned instrument colleagues from around the world. At this world music concert, you will experience the pleasure of seeing two of the world’s best guitarists in masterful interaction.
