Art exhibition by Bárður Jákupsson

The opening was supposed to be on Friday, but it has been postponed due to the funeral of the noble person and Steinprent friend Hans Pauli Strøm, whose absence will be felt terribly at the opening. He would certainly have attended as always, because his unusually generous heart also burned for art.

To describe the art of Bárður Jákupsson, you need broad gestures, but also strong contrasts. In his radiant images lives the memory of a beautiful summer day with soft light and warm summer atmosphere; elsewhere, we are placed on bare reefs at the seashore like footholds in the surf with mighty peaks rising above. It is not landscapes as such, but paintings—artworks that Bárður has created from feelings and memories of experiences in nature. Bárður Jákupsson holds a very special position in Faroese visual art. I look forward to seeing his newest works.

In the spring, a book about the artist will be published, in which he will be described from many perspectives by knowledgeable contributors. You will hear much more about this soon.
