Bókadagar Opens! (GL/IS/FO)

Where: Klingran
Duration: 90 min.

We kick off our annual literature festival, Bókadagar, with an exciting evening featuring poetry, opera singing, and recognition of Faroese authors.

Kuluk Helms and Þórgunnur Anna Örnólfsdóttir
First, experience a performative artistic presentation by Greenlandic/Danish poet Kuluk Helms and Icelandic singer Þórgunnur Anna Örnólfsdóttir.

Helms will read selected poems from the poetry collection My Soul Has Growing Pains (2023), while Örnólfsdóttir interprets the poems as opera. The music is composed by the Icelandic composer Finnur Hansen.

After the performance, the two artists will engage in a conversation about the themes of their works and their collaboration across poetry and music.

Organizer: Norðurlandahúsið

Honoring Three Authors
After the artistic performance, you can purchase refreshments from Tita before the EBBA Prize is awarded to a young author who demonstrates exceptional talent.

The prize was established through a donation from author Ebba Hentze to Rithøvundafelagið. As part of her legacy, the association awards the prize annually to a promising young writer.

Rithøvundafelagið will then appoint two honorary members who have made significant contributions to literature and the association. Books by these authors will be showcased. The event is open to all literature enthusiasts.

Organizer: Rithøvundafelagið

We look forward to seeing you and celebrating this year’s literary highlight, Bókadagar.
