Book presentation and student concert

On Saturday, March 15, at 3:00 PM, there will be a book presentation and student concert in Hátún at Tórshavn Music School, where a new sheet music book—“Piano Book for Big and Small” by Pauli í Sandagerði—will be introduced. Piano students from the music school will perform various pieces from the book.

“Piano Book for Big and Small” contains 36 piano arrangements of well-known Faroese songs, folk tunes, ballads, as well as some of Pauli’s own compositions and piano works. The book is illustrated by Bárður Jákupsson.

The pieces in the book are composed by a wide range of Faroese songwriters and composers, including Regin Dahl, Hans J. Højgaard, Jóhannus á Rógvu Joensen, Jógvan Waagstein, Hanus G. Johansen, Knút Olsen, Jógvan á Lakjuni, Sámal Petersen, Kári Bæk, Steintór Rasmussen, Annika Hoydal, Eivør, and Eyðun Nolsøe. The Faroese folk melodies featured include Regin smiður and Nú liggur ein kavafonn tindi á.

The piano pieces in the book vary in difficulty—from very short and simple arrangements of children’s songs to longer and more advanced piano compositions.

The sheet music book is intended both as a Faroese supplement for piano instruction and as small piano pieces for anyone to enjoy.

Pauli í Sandagerði will be present at the book presentation, which has been developed in collaboration with pianist and teacher Jóhannes Andreasen.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.
