Hlín Leifsdóttir (IS) – Opera Concert
Where: Klingran
Duration: 45 min.
Hlín Leifsdóttir is an acclaimed Icelandic classical soprano and award-winning spoken word poet. In recent years, she has been based in Greece, where she has taken part in numerous opera productions and festivals of contemporary music and spoken word. She has also performed internationally and has been praised by critics for her uniquely expressive voice and powerful interpretative abilities. Hlín moves effortlessly between opera, art song, contemporary classical music, and experimental spoken word.
She now visits the Faroe Islands for the first time with an atmospheric lunchtime concert in Klingran. Audiences can look forward to some of the finest works from the Nordic vocal music tradition, featuring music by Sunleif Rasmussen, Jean Sibelius, Edvard Grieg and Jón Leifs.
The concert will also offer insight into Hlín’s contemporary spoken-word artistry through two world premieres inspired by the shared cultural heritage of Iceland and the Faroe Islands. The texts draw inspiration from the story of Hrafna-Flóki, who left his daughter in the Faroe Islands, as well as the timeless tale of Ólafur Liljurós and the hidden people.
Come and experience a free lunchtime concert – food and drinks will be available for purchase from café TITA.
