A New Voice Rises at OY
On Friday evening, August 8th, Jógvan takes the stage at OY for the very first time.
Freshly graduated with a Master’s degree from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Jógvan has focused deeply on Faroese traditions in his work. In his latest compositions, he has written and shaped new ballads (kvæði), where he weaves together elements of both Faroese and Greenlandic heritage. His current project, Ríkisfelagsskapurin (The Commonwealth), explores this cultural interplay through sound. The music takes on a minimalist character, where repetition and drones form a distinct sonic identity — a journey across landscapes and legacies, carried by tone and texture.
Joining him on stage are:
• Andreas Tykjær Restorff
• Tróndur Bogason
