Kim and the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra

Kim Hansen and his band will perform together with the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra. Joining them are a number of special guests that Kim has collaborated with throughout the years.

Kim has been an active figure on the Faroese music scene for nearly a lifetime. We know him as a top-level producer, singer, and pianist and for a range of collaborations that span wide and cut deep – collaborations that have left behind a multitude of songs beloved by both young and old across the Faroes.

Over the years, he has played in many different bands and worked closely with solo artists, including his friend Kaj Johannesen. Kaj wrote the lyrics, and Kim composed the music. One of their best-known songs is Meistarin, which is also included in the Faroese hymnbook.

For this special concert, Kim will be joined by Lena Anderssen, Jens Marna Hansen, and MC Restorff – all highly respected and well-known names in Faroese music.

Imagine Kim with his band and guest artists, a Steinway grand piano, and the full Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra – it doesn’t get much more beautiful than that.

Magnus Johannesen is arranging Kim’s music for symphony orchestra. He has written extensively for big band but in recent years has turned his focus to orchestral arrangements – including the 2023 Marius Ziska concerts and the grand opening concert in the sports arena.

This project began in 2024 and was developed in close collaboration between Kim and the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra, from the initial idea to the final performance.
