Monthly Pauper (Magic: The gathering)

Magic: The Gathering players with Pauper* decks can compete for the crown and some not-so-common prizes. If you’re lucky, decks are available to borrow by contacting us, or you can just show up – so don’t let that hold you back!

For the tournaments, we’ll be using the MTG Companion app, which can be downloaded here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/companion-app

The competition will be in Swiss format, with best-of-three matches. We’ll play 3 or maybe 4 rounds, depending on the number of players. Organizers are Magni Hansen and Jimmy Jønsson.

The event is part of our Game Night, held every Saturday at the youth hall Hollywood in collaboration with Liv Lívið.

*Pauper is a 1v1 format where you play with a 60+ card deck (plus a 15-card sideboard) using only common cards. Common cards are the least rare in a pack and are typically weaker than rare cards, so the challenge is to make them work well together. Common cards are also inexpensive to acquire – either from other players, our collection, or sites like Cardmarket.
