Join us for five days of chamber music, concerts, and great musical adventures in the wonderful city of Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands, together with many other saxophone players!
The Nordic Saxophone Festival is a unique student festival focusing on classical and contemporary saxophone in chamber music settings.
The festival is unique in focusing mainly on chamber music and concerts with other saxophonists, broadening the students’ performance skills and international network.
Participants are divided into different ensembles that work together during the festival and prepare pieces to be performed at the festival concerts. This way, the students will play with many other players, gain a lot of new repertoire, and get some great experience on stage by playing concerts together!
Participants are encouraged to suggest pieces for the festival. The final program depends on the number of saxophonists participating.

The festival has been taking place (almost) every year since 2009, and is this year held in Tórshavnar Musikkskúli/FI, in collaboration with the Faroese saxophonist Kristina Thede Johansen, on the 12th to 16th of April 2025, both days included!
Participation in the festival is free, but participants are responsible for all other costs (travel, hotels, etc.)
TFree accommodation is available at “The House of the Scouts” in Tórshavn. This option is mainly for students and is free of charge. The house can accommodate 40 people and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is elementary and offers a place to sleep for free. You need to bring your sleeping bag or similar for this option.
For your travel arrangements, please be aware that the festival starts at 10 am on the 12th of April and ends around 10 pm on the evening of the 16th of April. It is crucial to be present every day, and we recommend arriving at Tórshavn on the 11th of April.
Chamber music instructors will be available.
The deadline for application is the 9th of February, 2025.
