Release Concert: Stanley Samuelsen (FO)

For several generations, singer and composer Stanley Samuelsen has been a central figure in shaping the Faroese music scene. He now returns with the album Sólskin — a title that in many ways resonates with the content of the album and, not least, with Stanley’s own life. Despite living with Alzheimer’s, he remains a joyful man, and this is expressed through his music.

Sólskin is also a title that may bring to mind William Heinesen’s poem of the same name.

The album consists of 12 songs, most of them in Faroese, with a few in Danish. Together with a group of talented musicians, Stanley has sought to give new life to older songs. He has composed most of the melodies and some of the lyrics himself, while other lyrics were written by Martin Joensen, Hans J. Kollslíð, William Heinesen, Hans A. Djurhuus, and Janus Djurhuus.

The album will be released as an LP and CD in the same sleeve and will be available for purchase at the release concert, as well as online.

A brand new book about Stanley is also being released. The book will be available for purchase at the concert and can be purchased on-site. Hilmar Jan Hansen has written the new book and will also be present
