Come and experience the flagship of jazz in the Faroe Islands. The concert “Minnist tú enn”, where Tórshavn Big Band together with well-known vocal soloists perform Faroese evergreens, is the main concert at Tórshavn’s jazz, folk, and blues festival, which is now being revived. The festival will take place on the weekend of July 4–5, 2025.

Tórshavn’s Jazz, Folk, and Blues Festival
The music legend Brandur Øssursson originally took the initiative for Tórshavn’s jazz, folk, and blues festival in 1984, and the festival continued for 20 years.

The festival brought a very special atmosphere to summer life in Tórshavn and became a gathering place for the music scene, the locals, and visitors. Tórshavn Big Band was the regular house orchestra, and the saxophone-playing jazz whale, which was the festival’s logo at the time, became the symbol of an international jazz festival in the North Atlantic.

All the capitals in our neighboring countries have a summer jazz festival — and of course, Tórshavn should have one again too.

The program will be a mix of jazz, folk music, and blues in the broadest sense. There will be a strong emphasis on artistic quality, and the lineup will showcase the best the Faroe Islands have to offer.

“Tórshavn’s jazz, folk, and blues festival will be re-established in a sustainable way. We are working to improve conditions for the musical genres and to ensure that the Faroese music scene is sustainable, diverse, relevant, and in constant, rapid development,” say the initiators Sunnuva Bæk and Hans Petur í Brekkunum. Together, they have several decades of experience in organizing music events, and they both play music themselves — Hans Petur as a professional musician and Sunnuva as an amateur musician.

Concerts and jam sessions will take place in venues such as Reinsaríið, Tórshavn’s Church, Perlan, Blábar, and the Nordic House.
