The Danish film Sauna is a love story set in Copenhagen’s queer community, starring Nina Rask and Magnus Juhl Andersen.
Age rating: 16+
Johan is an ordinary young man who keeps all doors open when it comes to love and sex.
He lands a job as a receptionist at Adonis — Copenhagen’s only gay sauna — where he not only works, but also gains deeply personal experiences with the sauna’s other guests.
To Johan, the city feels like a boundless paradise of possibilities — bars, parties, and one-night stands. But everything changes when he meets William, a transgender man, and experiences love up close for the first time.
Their connection is put to the test, as is often the case in a society shaped by rigid ideas of gender, love, and identity.
Casual sex, the freedom to break with norms, and the right to choose love are just some of the themes explored in this new Danish film.
Debut director Mathias Broe invites the audience into a world that challenges conventional notions of the body, gender, and sexuality — in a time where identity is increasingly fluid and self-defined.
Magnus Juhl Andersen, who plays Johan, is known from the film Into the Darkness and the TV series BULLSHIT.
The role of William, the transgender man, is played by actor and comedian Nina Rask, known from both radio and television.
