Kiwanis Tórshavn donates money every year to charitable causes. Since its founding on April 30, 1981, the organization has supported various charitable projects with donations totaling several million kroner. These include:
– Barnabati
– The Playroom at the National Hospital
– Javna (Faroese disability organization)
– Sinnisbati (mental health organization)
– The music group Ælabogin
– The Women’s Shelter
– The Salvation Army
– The Faroese Folk High School
– Hotel Tórshavn in Copenhagen
– The Seamen’s Home Ørkin in Reykjavík
The word “Kiwanis” comes from a Native American language and means “we build.”
