MC-Hár
Although the band has passed the 34-year mark, they have consistently played concerts throughout the years, with several members also staying musically active in other groups.
The long hair has been traded for trimmed cuts and bare scalps, but the music remains the same riff-driven rap rock that has carried the band forward all these years — music that always gathers their loyal fans and often ends in a full-blown shirtless dance party.
The lineup has been unchanged for over 20 years and features some of the Faroes’ most experienced and skilled musicians.
Niels Uni Dam on rap and Rókur Jákupsson on vocals are strongly supported by the solid rhythm section of Rani Hammershaimb Christiansen and Heri Reynheim.
Guitarists Jens V. Jakobsen and Jonas Bloch Danielsen make sure we never forget that the band is a true child of the ’90s, while Tróndur Bogason conjures his wild soundscapes on the keys.
It’s been a long time since MC-Hár made their spontaneous debut performance on the Ebenezer steps on February 16th, 1991 — or since their first Ólavsøka concert on July 27th, 1992, the release of Symphony of Irony in 1996, their full album Framvegis uttan vit in 1998, third place in Prix Føroyar in 1999, the Burn Me EP the same year, and headlining the very first G! Festival in 2002. But judging by their performances earlier this year, the band is sounding better than ever.
