The new book Føroysk Mineral & Grótsløg (Faroese Minerals and Rocks) takes us into the diverse geological world of the Faroe Islands. We will learn about geology, minerals, and rocks – and gain insight into how the islands were formed over millions of years.
The book is richly illustrated, scientifically grounded, and of interest to everyone curious about the history of nature.
The authors will present selected parts of the book and talk about the work behind its creation.
Uni Árting is a geologist and has worked for over 20 years at Jarðfeingi, mapping the geology both on land and offshore. He has personally collected many of the minerals and rock types featured in the book.
Barbara Biskopstø Thorsteinsson is both a trained geologist and a graphic designer and is responsible for the book’s design. She works at Jarðfeingi with various geological matters, both on land and on the continental shelf.
Lis Mortensen is a physical geographer and has worked with physical geography both in the Faroe Islands and throughout the Arctic region.
