People can communicate in many ways – even without using their voice. This is the foundation of this inclusive workshop, developed by Javna in collaboration with Sernám.
Two participants sit facing each other and receive a word or a short sentence, adapted to age and level. One participant must convey the message so that the other can understand it – without speaking.
To assist them, various communication tools are used, such as images, pictograms, body language, facial expressions, and yes/no buttons. The task is completed when the other person has understood the content.
The workshop gives children concrete experience of the fact that communication can take many forms, and that everyone – regardless of their abilities or circumstances – has the opportunity to express themselves and be heard. The activity strengthens understanding of diversity, inclusion, and respect for different ways of communicating.
