Earth Hour in Torshavn

Earth Hour will take place on Saturday evening, March 28, at 8:30 PM. This is an hour when all public lights in the municipality will be turned off, thereby highlighting climate change and the environment.

Everyone can participate in Earth Hour by turning off the lights at home, using this time to do something meaningful for us and our nature.

Earth Hour Event
This evening, Tórshavn Municipality will host a cozy Earth Hour event in the garden behind the Theater House (Sjónleikarhúsið) from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Kristianna Winter Poulsen, chairwoman of the Nature and Environment Committee in Tórshavn Municipality, will open Earth Hour 2026. Following that, Sjúrður Hammer, a nature and environmental researcher, will reflect on how light and light pollution affect animals and humans. Anna Lovisa, whom we know from the show Hoydalar, will sing a few songs. The Vikings will be ready to offer us pancakes and warm elderflower tea, as well as share stories about the stars and present riddles.

Feel free to bring your own cup for the flower tea!
The event is free of charge.

We encourage people living in the area to turn off their lights at home during the event, so we can enjoy a cozy moment in the darkness without any light pollution.
