Release event: Upp úr Dýpinum – Svartsalt LP

Upp úr Dýpinum is the manifestation of the three alter egos – Nirvargh (John Ivar Venned, vocals, guitar), Groth (Pól N. Jespersen, bass, backing vocals), and Killhelm (Martin Rói Vilhelmsen, drums) – as underground musicians. Their anger and disgust are now rising up from the depths.

The band describes the release like this:

“The album is a testimony to the identity confusion in the Faroe Islands; an identity crisis of the global citizen trying to find their footing in Faroese reality. We are caught in a field of tension between the global and the local countercurrent. This is a sonic confrontation with an ever-growing fascist environment attacking from all sides; including from within, locally.”

This is a release the band has poured a great deal of physical and emotional energy into. They have dived deep into the unpleasant emotions that characterize both the lyrics and the music.

The artwork was created by artist Bjartur Clementsen, who has given a face to the creature now rising from the depths.

At the release event, Martin Rói Vilhelmsen (Killhelm) and Bjartur Clementsen will say a few words about the album. There will also be something good to drink from OY.
