We are living longer. How can we, as a society, create good conditions for our growing population of older people, so that their experience, skills and interests continue to benefit the community?

On West Nordic Day, we turn the spotlight on the Silver Economy, also known as the Silver Generation. The concept refers to the opportunities that arise as people live longer and enjoy more active years in later life. It encompasses areas such as working life, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, innovation, and participation in local communities.

The event will feature a representative from Nordland County Council, who serves as project manager for the NORA project “Seniors – NORA’s Gold Reserves.” The project explores how the knowledge, experience, and workforce potential of older people can be better utilized for the benefit of individuals, businesses, and society as a whole.

Following the presentation, a panel will discuss opportunities and challenges from a West Nordic perspective:

• How can we create better opportunities for longer and more flexible working lives?

• How can businesses and society benefit more from the skills and competencies of older people?

• What new solutions and forms of cooperation can be developed across the West Nordic region?

The event is part of the celebration of West Nordic Day and invites participants to discuss how the Silver Economy can become an even stronger asset in our societies.
