Minister Eirikur í Jákupsstovu will officially open the exhibition, and Petra Iversen will perform.
The artists will be present on Ólavsøka Eve.
Sigrun Gunnarsdóttir and Astri Luihn are among the Faroe Islands’ leading visual artists. They have held both solo and joint exhibitions for many years, both locally and internationally, and have also completed major decorative commissions.
For this year’s Ólavsøka Exhibition, they have invited three of the Faroes’ most exciting younger female artists: Beinta á Torkilsheyggi, Guðrið Syderbø, and Maria Luihn.
Beinta á Torkilsheyggi is a photographer educated at the University of the Arts London and London College of Fashion. She has received awards as a director for the documentary Heartist, and has participated in numerous projects and exhibitions both at home and abroad.
Guðrið Syderbø is a printmaker and graphic designer, educated at Deko&Print and Copenhagen Technical College. She has exhibited at the National Gallery of the Faroe Islands and Gallarí Havnará. Her prints are in high demand internationally and have gained significant global interest.
Maria Luihn is an illustrator and artisan with education from Plus-Skolen in Norway and the University of Oslo. She is also a certified goldsmith. Maria has exhibited in Norway, the National Gallery, and Gallarí Havnará, and she has completed a wide range of artistic commissions at home and abroad.
