Birting at Gallarí Havnará
Vernissage is on October 24 at 8:00 PM, and everyone is welcome.
The exhibition serves as a counterweight to the darker and more somber aspects of life.
Through her art, the artist seeks to highlight the beauty, tranquility, and spaciousness that surround us everywhere—in nature, within ourselves, and in our interactions with one another. A light is cast upon vivid moments, allowing them to glow in pure togetherness. Marianna draws her inspiration from the Faroese landscape and its rich interplay of colors, which she believes can only truly be experienced in the unique Faroese light. Green, blue, and yellow are the primary colors she works with—frequently combined with bold tones of red. Color plays a vital role in her artistic expression, in which forms are often deconstructed and reassembled into cubist-inspired patterns imbued with sensory depth and mood.
Although Marianna Højsted Horsdal is still relatively new to the Faroese art scene, she has already attracted notable attention. Interest in her paintings is growing, and she has exhibited both in the Faroe Islands and abroad.
Marianna is 31 years old, a qualified psychologist, and has painted and drawn since childhood. However, it is particularly in recent years that she has dedicated herself purposefully to developing her own artistic voice. Art has always been an integral part of her life, and her grandfather, the painter Poul Horsdal (1936–1981), has always been one of her greatest sources of inspiration. Marianna works primarily with acrylic on canvas, but also incorporates watercolors, oil pastels, and mixed media. With the exhibition “Birting”, Marianna invites us into a luminous, sensory world where nature, living beings, peace, and beauty are given space to breathe.
At the opening reception, Eyði Højsted Horsdal will perform a selection of songs, and Michael Antony will DJ later into the evening. Everyone is warmly welcome.
The exhibition runs until October 31.
