Concert: Hvørjum angar rúmdin av?

It’s neoclassical music for piano and soprano, composed by Kári Jacobsen, and it’s Kári himself and the acclaimed Faroese-Norwegian soprano Hanne Marit Mordal Iversen who will perform at the concert.

The musical style moves from the traditional toward the more experimental, contemporary, and free-form expression. The lyrics by Urd Johannesen go in various directions — from introverted and concrete thoughts about losing a loved one, to more abstract reflections that carry us out into infinite space.

Joining Hanne Marit on her trip to the Faroe Islands is pianist Damien Heemskerk, and together they will perform ‘3 Songs to Poems by Åse Marie Nesse’ by Norwegian composer Ragnar Söderlind and ‘Trois poèmes de Mallarmé’ by French composer Maurice Ravel. There will also be a chance to hear something from Kári Jacobsen and Urd Johannesen’s previous release, ‘Rangvørg,’ which came out in 2023.
