How does democracy – the foundation of our society – actually work?

This is the starting point of this workshop, where children learn about democracy through creative activities and are given the opportunity to step into a voting booth and cast their vote.

The children visit three stations:

Design Your Own Campaign Poster
The children identify their key issues and slogans. With support from adults and simple written guides, they formulate what is important to them – what they themselves would vote for – and transform it into a campaign poster through drawings.

Children’s Voting Booth
Then it’s election time! The children enter the voting booth – just like adults do – and cast their vote.

Build the City of the Future in LEGO
A collaborative activity that strengthens dialogue and cooperation. Here, the children have the opportunity to build the city they would like to live in and explain the ideas and thoughts behind their construction.

The performers are Constructive Institute, an independent organization working to strengthen democracy through journalism.
