Die, My Love (Lynne Ramsay England USA 2025 119 min)

Although Grace tries, she finds it difficult to settle into her new role and the remote surroundings where love, dreams, and unexpected challenges collide. His mother, Oscar winner Sissy Spacek, notices that all is not right with her daughter-in-law.

Both the director and the lead actress likely have the strongest depictions of motherhood in modern film: Scottish director Lynne Ramsay (b. 1969) with the film We Need to Talk About Kevin in 2011, and Jennifer Lawrence (b. 1990) as the lead in the Aronofsky film Mother! in 2017.

The story was written by the Jewish-Argentinian Ariana Harwicz (b. 1977) in Spanish in 2012 under the title Matate, Amor. Critics praised the story for its intimate and emotional portrayal of relationships, motherhood, and identity.

The film Die, My Love was in the main competition at Cannes 2025 and received exceptionally good reviews, especially for the strong and untamed performance by Jennifer Lawrence, which critics consider worthy of at least one Oscar nomination.
