Everybody Loves Touda (Nabil Ayouch, Marokko 2024)
In secret, she plans to flee to Casablanca—not only to become a known singer but also for the sake of her son.
The beautiful and liberated singer Touda performs in bars and gains popularity, but not everyone in her hometown approves. Nevertheless, she dreams of becoming a renowned aita singer and, as a sheikha, reaching the highest artistic heights, while also helping her son, who has hearing difficulties. For this reason, she moves to the big city of Casablanca, where all stages and artistic opportunities are wide open. From there, her personal dream of freedom and artistic expression is put to the test.
The film is directed by multiple award-winning Moroccan filmmaker Nabil Ayouch (b. 1969), who lives in Casablanca, and shot by Belgian cinematographer Virginie Surdej, known in the Faroe Islands as the regular photographer for Sakaris Stórá.
