New Music Islands explores how we can forge connections across vast geographies while also doing our own thing, here, in our own way.
The concert programme consists of selected works from the Faroe Islands, Aotearoa New Zealand, the Canary Islands and
Gotland. The programme centres on four works that embrace openness through flexible instrumentation and deliberately broad performance instructions. Each ensemble is invited to make the music their own, resulting in unique interpretations as the programme travels between the four island communities.
Each concert will be a singular experience, with this being the Faroe Islands presentation.
New Music Islands is an international collaboration between four member societies of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM): the Faroe Islands Section, VICC (ISCM Gotland Section), COSIMITE (ISCM Affiliated Associate Member representing the Canary Islands) and CANZ (ISCM New Zealand Section).
