Friday evening, 24 October at 19:00, Ragnar Finsson will perform his own intimate and folk-inspired songs at Káta Hornið.
Ragnar Finsson is a Faroese producer, songwriter and the musician behind several well-known releases. Musically, he draws inspiration from artists such as Big Thief, Adrianne Lenker, Steve Lacy, José González, Bon Iver and Fleetwood Mac. Ragnar writes songs that feel both tender and grand, with intricate guitars, spacious production and philosophical lyrics. The music is authentic, present, soaring and rooted in folk traditions.
Ragnar is currently working on his first full solo album, and he imagines that his sound could resemble artists like Big Thief or Bon Iver — whom he also dreams of opening for one day.
In 2024 he won second place at Sement and was in that connection selected to play at the G! Festival.
Before Sement, he released his EP Crossing under the artist name HORRSE, which received excellent reviews and earned him the title New Artist of the Year at the FMA. He later also won Release of the Year for Ja/Nei – og restin av vikuni by Dania O. Tausen, which he co-wrote and produced. He has also collaborated on several other releases by Faroese artists such as Marianna Winter, Aggrasoppar and Marius DC.
Ragnar has performed his music on international stages like The Great Escape and the G! Festival, and this coming November he will head to Reykjavík to perform at Iceland Airwaves. Before that, you can experience Ragnar at Káta Hornið and at a longer concert in Listastovan on Saturday 25 October at 20:00.
This will therefore be a warm-up and preparation for the big showcase festival in Reykjavík.
The concert is supported by Økistónar.
Tutl has also extended opening hours in the spirit of the Heysthugna-weekend:
Friday open 10:00–20:00
Saturday open 10:00–18:00
And we’ll be bringing out our “Cow Crate”!
The Cow Crate contains records and CDs with a little cosmetic wear on the covers, but which are otherwise in good condition. Come by!
