In March 2009, American writer and photographer Randi Ward moved to Hestur and lived there for the last six months of her stay in the Faroe Islands. The black-and-white photographs in the exhibition in Hestur were taken during this period. They challenge the romanticized narrative that the media and tourism industry too often use when depicting the Faroe Islands and Faroese villages — as idyllic places where time stands still.
The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of the National Library from January 26 to August 26, 2025.
Opening hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
As always, admission is free.
