Ingesund Percussion Ensemble performs newly composed music from Sweden and the Faroe Islands. The program features rhythmic and melodic works that challenge and explore the possibilities of percussion— including several world premieres created in collaboration between composers and students from both countries.
Program
Slá í ring – Runi K. Mouritsen
A quartet piece in three movements (Stevið, Lagið, and Søgan), taking the audience on a rhythmic and melodic journey.
Nordic Connections – Rolf Landberg
A harmonic and swinging piece for melodic percussion, explicitly written for Ingesund Percussion Ensemble. Rolf is the ensemble’s leader and a faculty member at Ingesund School of Music.
In Chains – Johan Bodin Eriksson
A pulsating and atmospheric piece by Swedish percussionist Johan Bodin Eriksson, who teaches in Härnösand and runs Sweden’s largest educational program for young percussionists.
World Premieres
The concert also presents brand-new works created as a result of a musical collaboration between the Faroe Islands and Sweden. The audience will experience Dropar for two percussionists by Helena Sigurðsdóttir Lamhauge and short musical sketches by composition students from Tórshavn University and the Music School.
About Ingesund Percussion Ensemble
Ingesund Percussion Ensemble consists of percussion students from the Ingesund School of Music, one of Sweden’s leading music academies. The school attracts students from across the country — currently including one student from the Faroe Islands.
Ingesund School of Music is part of Karlstad University and has been an essential part of the Scandinavian music tradition since 1923. It educates music teachers, musicians, and music producers in the scenic surroundings of Kyrkviken, near Arvika in Värmland.
The school trains music teachers and musicians to work in the cultural sector, elementary schools, high schools, and art schools. It also offers programs in music production and artistic subjects, along with a range of specialized music courses.
Currently, Ingesund School of Music has around 320 students, most of whom are enrolled in the music teacher education program. The faculty consists of experienced, dedicated, and passionate educators committed to both music and music education.
