International Funding for the Faroese Film Industry

Status: Cancelled
Where: Klingran
Duration: 90 min.

Due to the newly announced election, this film policy debate is cancelled. We are working on finding another opportunity later in the year.

Why is it so difficult for Faroese filmmakers to secure funding for their film projects? Are there challenges in meeting the requirements of European and international funding schemes? What are the obstacles — and how can they be addressed?

Welcome to a talk and panel discussion with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Tilfeingis- og Vinnumálaráðið), Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Denmark, Filmshúsið, and Outlier Projects.

Filmshúsið invites you to a panel discussion focusing on the international film fund Creative Europe MEDIA, and on the specific challenges faced by film professionals in the Faroe Islands when applying for international funding.

We are pleased to welcome Lone Garde, Head of Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Denmark, an organisation working within the audiovisual sector that supports, among other things, development, production and distribution of feature films, documentaries, video games and interactive works.

Following a short presentation, there will be a discussion with Eiriki í Jákupsstovu, Minister of Trade and Industry, Jón Hammer, producer at Outlier Projects, and Marjun Niclasen, Head of Filmshúsið.
Moderator: Kristianna Winther Poulsen.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
