Rótin – Green Creativity from the Faroe Islands
Where: Klingran, Skálin, Forhøllin
Duration: 120 min.
How can traditional crafts, creativity and good ingredients contribute to a greener future?
Join us for an inspiring and creative day with Rótin – nominated for the Nordic Council’s Environment Prize this year!
In this workshop, children and families will have the opportunity to meet students and teachers from Rótin, a school in Klaksvík that actively works with sustainability, recycling and green solutions. They will share their experiences and show how environmental awareness can be practical, creative and fun.
You can take part in a variety of activities:
Workshop 1: Wool keyrings and bag charms
Make your own small woollen charm and discover how materials can be given a new life.
Workshop 2: Bregdaband – a Faroese craft tradition
Try your hand at bregdaband, the Faroe Islands’ oldest handicraft technique, and discover a tradition that is still very much alive.
Workshop 3: Food, flavour and food waste
What can we do with the food we have before it ends up in the bin? There will be opportunities to learn something new – and to taste the results.
Welcome to an afternoon filled with creativity, tradition, flavours and green ideas.
