Many film projects spring from strong ideas, but far from all develop into coherent and dramatically sustainable narratives. A clear premise and an interesting concept may be present, but the story is not fully realized.

This masterclass examines the difference between an idea and a narrative. It focuses on how an idea can be transformed into a dramatically cohesive story. Using dramaturgical analysis and practical experience, the course works with:

  • Character & Conflict

  • Theme & Structure

  • Narrative Development

The course is aimed at students and professionals interested in screenwriting and cinematic dramaturgy who wish to strengthen their understanding of how idea-based projects are developed into complete dramas.

Rasmus is one of Denmark’s most decorated screenwriters. His filmography includes some of the biggest Scandinavian hits of the last two decades:

  • International Hits: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Mænd som hader kvinder), A Royal Affair (En Kongelig Affære), and The Absent One (Fasandræberne).

  • Directorial Debut: In the Blood (I Blodet), which won the Bodil for Best Film in 2017.

  • Recent Work: The End (2024).

Major Awards:

  • Silver Bear (Berlin Film Festival): Best Screenplay for A Royal Affair.

  • Robert Awards: Multiple wins for Best Screenplay and Best Film.

  • Allen Grant: Awarded by the Danish Playwrights’ Guild.
