Skeivur
How does it feel to be ‘skeivur’? To be different and not what people expect? To never fit in? To lose your footing in the nightlife, in your emotions, in yourself—and perhaps to find yourself in the middle of the chaos and uncertainty?
Skeivur is a modern black comedy about youth in the nightlife, hidden emotions, intoxication, sex, intense experiences, and about Mark, who is trying to control his anger. The play is both frightening and touching, satirical, and hits directly at what many young people struggle with: excitement, insecurity, and the demands of a world where everything can change in a single night.
One night, a group of young people meet at a club where they encounter a man who wants something from them—or perhaps just from one of them. As the night progresses, things begin to slide, and in the chaos, emotions, secrets, and violent events come to light.
Skeivur is part of a new project by Tjóðpallur Føroya (The National Theatre of the Faroe Islands), where talented young actors take the stage alongside experienced, professional actors. The play is the result of a special creative process called devising, where the actors themselves help shape the story. This means the themes, situations, and emotions in the play spring directly from the lives, experiences, and reality of the youth themselves.
Script: Even Torgan – together with the actors
