The Adventure Journey at Ólavsøka – Romeo and Juliet

This Ólavsøka, it is possible to experience Dánjal and Búi at the Faroese National Theatre (Tjóðpallur Føroya), where they will tell children the clever, funny, and tragic story of the world’s most famous loving couple, Romeo and Juliet.

With musical and theatrical skill, Dánjal and Búi will give the children at Ólavsøka insight into the wondrous world created by the poet William Shakespeare (Villiam Ristispjót in Faroese), which still stands as an unshakable landmark among the world’s clever, funny, and tragic masterpieces.

The touching story of Romeo and Juliet is undoubtedly the most famous love story ever told. Two young people fall in love with each other, but their families are bitter enemies. We follow their struggle for love—filled with tense moments and deep emotions! Like when Juliet, with love and sorrow in her heart, cries out: “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” A classic story that will make you laugh, blush, gasp, say “uh!” or “ah!” or “oh!” and maybe even shed a tear.
