Tórshavnar Manskór
Where: Høllin
Duration: 120 min (incl. break)
Tórshavnar Manskór, one of the most active choirs in the Faroe Islands, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a grand concert.
Since its founding, the choir has placed strong emphasis on building collaborations with leading choirs in neighbouring countries. Renowned choirs such as Karlakór Reykjavíkur and Fóstbræður from Iceland, Studenter-Sangforeningen from Denmark, Den norske Studentersangforening, as well as Orphei Drängar from Sweden – some of the very finest male choirs in the Nordic region – have visited the Faroe Islands, and Tórshavnar Manskór has in turn visited them for joint concerts over the years.
At the anniversary concert, three conductors will take the podium: Marit Tøndel Bodsberg from Den norske Studentersangforening, who visited the Faroe Islands in 2024; Friðrik S. Kristinsson from Karlakór Reykjavíkur, whom Tórshavnar Manskór first met in 1993; and the choir’s principal conductor, Jón Festirstein.
The Norwegian composer Tormod Tvete Vik has created an entirely new work for the occasion, which will receive its world premiere at this concert.
