This year’s edition of Varðin is filled with exciting material – including short stories, essays, and reviews of new Faroese works. In this issue, special emphasis is placed on poetry and essay texts: Faroese poems, translated poems, and writings that illuminate the Faroese cultural scene.
The publication event opens with a tribute to a true Varðin enthusiast, Zakarias Wang, written by Torbjørn Jacobsen. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to hear selected readings from the new issue.
Rebekka Petersen and Swedish poet Hanna Rajs both contribute several poems to this issue of Varðin. Rebekka Petersen will read one of her poems at the event, while translators Sanna Dahl and Eyð Steinbjørnsdóttir will read poems by Hanna Rajs.
Literary criticism and reviews of cultural works have always held a special place in Varðin – and so it is this year as well. During Bókadagar, Brynhild Kamban will read from her review of Regin smiður, which was performed as an opera at Varpið in Klaksvík.
Organizers: Sanna Klein and Dorit Hansen, editors of Varðin.
