Harmonies of the Faroe Islands: A musical journey

Despite their size, the Faroe Islands can proudly claim two internationally acclaimed artists, Eivør Pálsdóttir and Teitur Lassen, as native talent.

At the heart of Faroese music is Tutl, the islands’ state-supported and artist-owned record label established in 1979. You can explore their store in the heart of Tórshavn and  immerse yourself in a wide variety of Faroese music and even make a purchase or two.

Enhancing the capital’s music scene, there’s even a thriving music school in Tórshavn, boasting two thousand students and a series of international music festivals which are held annually. Among them, the renowned G! Festival is the biggest, with a main stage erected on the beach offering fantastic views of the towering Faroese mountains beyond. All proof that music in the Faroes is alive and kicking.
