It’s that time again—Tórshavn Marathon is on the calendar for Sunday, June 1st. Many people gather in the city on this day. It’s a major and lively event where people from across the country come together to run and enjoy the day. Each year, a number of international participants also arrive to experience this special occasion.

Tórshavn Marathon is not just a sporting challenge—it also shines a light on community, physical activity, and a healthy lifestyle. There’s always something special about experiencing Tórshavn full of life, and we hope you’ll enjoy the vibrant atmosphere in the city that day.

Several roads will be closed in connection with the Tórshavn Marathon between 12:30 and 19:00. The Eysturoy Tunnel and the Kollafjørður Tunnel will also be closed while the race takes place in the area. Car traffic will be redirected via Oyggjarvegur during the closure.

Tinghúsvegur, from Bøkjarabrekka down to Áarvegur
Bringnsagøta, from Húsabrúgv down to Áarvegur

Havnargøta
Yviri við Strond
Hoyvíksvegur, from Óðinshædd to Eystari Ringvegur
Eystari Ringvegur to Hvítanesvegur
Hvítanesvegur to the roundabout by Vegur Langi

The following roads will be closed between 12:45 and 14:30

Eystari Ringvegur from Hvítanesvegur to the roundabout at Hálsur will be closed

R.C. Effersøe’s Street and Bøkjarabrekka will have one-way traffic only

The following roads will be closed from 13:00 to 18:00

The main road from the roundabout at Vegur Langi/Hvítanes to the Eysturoy Tunnel
The Eysturoy Tunnel will be closed
The main road from Kaldbaksbotnur to the roundabout Inni í Firði in Kollafjørður

The following roads will be closed from 13.00 to 17.00
