
There are a total of 24 employees at the Faroe Islands Court. The Faroe Islands Court is part of the Danish Courts. The highest judicial authority is the Supreme Court.
The Faroe Islands Court consists of 1 chief judge (sorinskrivari), 1 judge, 2 judicial assistants, 2 deputy judges, 17 office staff, and 1 office trainee.
The court is organized into seven departments:
- Criminal Cases
- Bailiff’s Court
- Probate Court
- Accounting
- Notary Office
- Civil Cases
Additionally, the court also conducts maritime inquiries.
In addition to regular public holidays, the Faroe Islands Court is also closed on the following days: Flag Day (April 25), Constitution Day (June 5), Ólavsøka Eve and Ólavsøka (July 28 & 29), Christmas Eve (December 24), and New Year’s Eve (December 31).
