The National Gallery of the Faroe Islands
The collection consists of works from the 1830s to the present day. Among the unique pieces, you will find works made of Faroese horsehair and a natural-sized whale made of 32,000 plastic soldiers. One of the main attractions in the art museum’s collection is a room made of glass where the whole family can get the feeling of floating on the sea. Optically you can see 700 meters up and down!
The National Gallery offers an exceptional art experience in a wonderful scenic setting. It is located in a plantation in Tórshavn, only 10 min. walk from the city centre. In the museum’s foyer, you will find a café and shop as well as workshop tables with fun activities for children. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee, be creative or browse through the selection of beautiful postcards, posters and books.
The museum is open until 8 pm first Thursday every month.
Summer opening hours: 11am-5pm
