KJÖT

KJÖT serves burgers, fish & chips and street food in central Tórshavn.

KJÖT is a casual street food restaurant on Áarvegur in the centre of Tórshavn, serving generous burgers, crispy fish & chips, homemade fries and other familiar street food favourites. Several of the burgers are made with Faroese beef, while the fish & chips features locally caught white fish. Vegetarian options are also available.

The name KJÖT has deep roots at the address. In 1937, Joen Hejne Elieser Jacobsen – better known locally as Heini í KJÖT – opened a shop here selling fresh meat and everyday goods. For more than 25 years, it became a familiar stop for families in Tórshavn before the business moved elsewhere in the town in 1963.

Today, KJÖT brings the historic name back to the same part of Áarvegur. The butcher’s counter has been replaced by hot grills and homemade burgers, but the emphasis remains on good ingredients, straightforward food and a welcoming atmosphere. Its central location makes KJÖT an easy option for lunch or a relaxed meal while exploring Tórshavn.
