Technology will help develop literary and cultural tourism
March 15th 2024: Innovation within technology will aid literary and cultural tourism in Tórshavn municipality, thus Visit Tórshavn has become a part of the EU project N-Lite.
Earlier this week, Visit Tórshavn and the Finnish university KAMK hosted a workshop in the capital.
Visit Tórshavn is a part of the EU project N-LITE, which stands for Literary Tourism Immersive Technology Acceleration. One of the aims of the project is to use innovative digital products to enhance literary and cultural tourism on-site.
In this context, Visit Tórshavn, along with the Finnish university KAMK, organized a workshop at Hotel Hafnia earlier this week for representatives within culture, literature, youth, and tourism in the Tórshavn municipality.
The purpose of the workshop was both to familiarise the participants with immersive technology and work to integrate it with literary tourism. Examples of immersive technologies are e.g. virtual reality and augmented reality.
Leading the Faroese part of the project is Visit Tórshavn’s new destination development coordinator, Annika Lisberg.
Annika started her position in January. She is 32 years old, holds a master’s degree in tourism from Aalborg University, and has extensive experience in tourism both in the Faroe Islands and in Denmark. Notably, she has experience with green certifications—an area that Visit Tórshavn aims to focus more on.
If you have questions about the project or would like an opportunity to respond to our survey about immersive technology, feel free to contact Annika at annikali@torshavn.fo
